Welcome To
The Sensory Shed
The objective of The Sensory Shed is to assess and treat children and adults challenged with additional needs, and also help them to acquire and develop valuable skills and abilities.
Our purpose-built therapy room in Gulladuff provides a safe, friendly environment where we can help to identify the individual needs faced while also encouraging the practice and development of important social, motor, self care and sensory skills.
We offer a range of group classes or one-to-one sessions designed for people with additional needs such as Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Dyspraxia or Attention Deficit Disorder.
The Sensory Shed also welcome people who have not been given a diagnosis but who experience difficulties with some of the areas mentioned below.
Occupational Therapy & Sensory Therapy
For Children & Adults
Everyday life requires a wide range of skills needed to complete everyday tasks, which are also known as 'occupations'. A person with additional needs often faces greater challenges to complete these occupations.
Examples of children’s occupations might be playing, drawing, socialising, throwing a ball, brushing their teeth or engaging with education.
Adult occupations are similar and might include more complex tasks such as the ability to cook, clean, use a computer, complete housework, selfcare tasks or tasks related to a profession.
Working with an experienced Occupational Therapist may offer many benefits. We will help to identify and understand your child’s occupations to discover what difficulties they have.
We will offer support to you and other relevant people (such as teachers) to understand your child’s challenges and strengths so that we can help them to develop those occupations that are important to you and your child.
Our Occupational Therapist may also be able to suggest alternative ways of doing things, provide advice on new learning approaches and techniques, or making changes to the environment, for example, through using equipment or adaptations.
